Pop Hypocrisy, SLC Punk and June in general...

June 12, 2010
As most of us know, Lady Gaga's new video just debuted. It has her straddling men, swallowing rosaries, and looking beautiful. You know, typical pop gimmicks with catchy music in the back. Except, oddly enough, I love this video just like all of her others. Call me a sucker, but I think she's a *gasp* artist. That or it could be the fact that she actually has talent unlike her lower pop counterparts.

Of course, any vid with orgies and crosses is going to be slammed somehow because somehow Catholics think the world should bow down to them and they want to go through life expecting to be never offended.
Not just Catholics though, fellow pop star Katy Perry has recently insinuated an attack on the video. We all know what the hell she was referring to, yet she didn't have the balls to  directly mention the video. So she tweeted it instead.
“Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke,”

This makes me curious as to what the hell making a song solely about kissing girl to rise to fame is. Because homosexuality is so shocking, isn't it? Because kissing a girl makes you edgy?
Well, enough of the attacks, I'll end with saying that what's blasphemy to one can be just pure fun to another. Hell, to me, rosaries mean nothing so I'll do whatever with them. To Gaga, they might have meant visual symbolism. And, meaningful visual symbolism, not having cream shoot out of your breasts.

and that's the end of that rant...now...

I just saw SLC Punk!, a film that has been suggested to me many times. All I'll say about it is that it's a film I couldn't finish, one I found yawn inducing with it's stereotypes of punk, and overall I'll say it's a boring film with a kickass soundtrack. I thought it being a film about punk subculture that's what it might focus on, but it instead threw it's annoying main character around in the audiences face, one that even in my most patient mood I could never bear.

I'll just spare you being redundant and link you the best review I've found of this film:

Now to leave on a positive note:
June is my luck month, it's when things tend to go right. Found London Calling for $4, discovered my phone was flameproof, found absinthe ice cream, and have been watching movies all night without being caught once. Let's see if it'll continue for the rest of the month. :D

I just love this

(Not only in heaven, but also in the sea there are stars).

Reminds me of The Hanged Man, which is what I'm currently reading by Francesca Lia Block. Unlike most of her novels, I haven't finished this yet and it's been months since I first got it. Psyche in a Dress was so utterly gorgeous I read it all in one night (I actually stopped midway and started rereading it before I even finished it). But with the Hanged Man, it's been a strange, realistic journey that takes time.

Every couple of days ...

Film...and The Clash..

First of all, I'll do my rant here before my rave.
*Takes deep breath*
Here we go...

Alright, what the FUCK is it with people degrading films by terming them 'artsy fartsy' or simply even 'artsy'? I've seen films that were beautiful, The Fall, The Fountain, Requiem for a Dream, A Clockwork Orange, The Prestige, The Illusionist, etc all bagged on not because of plot, story, or anything but the aspect of it being presented as a piece of art. How does this makes sense? Film is an ART form. (Wel...

I'm listening to 'Under The Bridge' right now. Yes, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the most cliche LA band out there. But fuck it, spare me how lame it is, I'm homesick.

Two years ago, I was going through a horrible preteen angst-filled phase. It was riddled with cheap eyeliner, crummy flat ironed hair, and Hot Topic purchased clothes. I try to push this back into my mind so far I really wish it would just make it cease to exist. So in between my misspelled, poorly articulated hateful blog posts, ...

Perhaps what's more intimidating then the incapability to complete a task is the overwhelming sense of disappointment that your procrastination has had on others. At least with incompetence comes the excuse of itself, but when the matters of depression and laziness hold you back, only later does it appear so trivial in the long run.
I wish I could excuse myself somehow for not finishing what I need to finish, yet I cannot. What gets me the most is that though I acknowledge this, I refuse to ...
